Summary: The child is born. Response to
cupcakemonster's Burrow.
It's so real with the little kid screaming its head off, and Baralai laughs at him because really, how else could it be? His hand hurts from Rikku's screaming, and his heart hurts because there should be a father there. There should be a proud man to love Rikku and the baby, there should be smiles, but instead Rikku is alone.
Well, not alone. There's the not-a-bump-anymore, and there's him, and there's Baralai.
And Rikku and the not-a-bump-anymore will always have him and Baralai. Always-always.
He doesn't ask Rikku who the father is, except very quietly, behind other words. He tells her it's a girl and he wraps his arms around her and holds her tight, while she's all exhausted, while Baralai helps clean up a little. He asks if there's anyone he should send to, telling them which way it is.
And he finds that he's crying, for Rikku, for the kid without a father around, but he holds that inside and smiles at the new life, the new Rikku-life. He hopes she will take after her mother, with the happy face and the energy.
In fact, he's going to try and make sure of it.

"There should be a proud man to love Rikku and the baby, there should be smiles, but instead Rikku is alone." That second comma should be a semi-colon.
