FFX-2: (No) Worries

Summary: Gippal and Rikku and Baralai all get along fine. Response to cupcakemonster's Imperfect.


At first he was worried, but then he wasn't, because Baralai becomes almost as fond of Rikku as he is, and Baralai doesn't mind having her around, so it's Rikku and Gippal and Baralai, and sometimes they talk late into the night (only interrupted by Baralai getting up and giving them worried looks, saying maybe Rikku should get more rest). And he sends a message to Nhadala and she makes sure someone is taking care of the Faction, too.

But that's an afterthought, because Rikku is more important, Rikku and the bump, which in Gippal's mind is already another little person. He calls it the bump, too, teasingteasing and laughing at Rikku, always.

He still worries about who the father is, but he won't ask again. He knows that if he reminded Rikku that he's her best friend in the entire world and he'd never tell anyone (not even Baralai) she might tell him, but that's not fair.

He won't ask.

I love how Gippal teases Rikku by referring to her baby as "a bump." It's sweet. I like his concern over how his lover and his friend will get along.

I like that Gippal is wise enough not to exercise his power over Rikku as a friend just to satisfy his curiosity.

I would just change the first sentence to read like this: " At first he's worried, but then he isn't . . ." just to keep verb tenses consistent.
