FFX-2: Break

Summary: Baralai was sympathetic all the way into bed. Response to cupcakemonster's Jackass.


He was angry, and she was clingy, and Baralai was sympathetic.

He wondered for a while if he should confess to her, and then thought (angryangry) that she was all cling and cling some more, and that was all her fault, and even if he did tell her, she wouldn't understand.

And he met up with Baralai a few more times, and though Baralai was reluctant (still too nice for his own good), it'd happen again, every time.

And when he met up with Rikku, it was all briefly happy, then the bitter again, hothot then burn out, and he was getting as sick of the sight of her as he was getting sick of missing her all the time, and he wondered if they shouldn't just have stayed friends. It'd been more fun when they were friends. They'd had so much fun back then. Blitz and machina and laugh and tease, and she'd always smiled back then.

She didn't smile so much now, and that hurt, but it wasn't his fault.

Right?

He was still breaking his stupid machina all the time, and wondered if he should go away (run away) and leave it all for a while. Take a break himself. Before he broke something more important than a machina.

Gippal declares that he's just appreciative of the pretty, and anyway, he had a fling with Baralai before he did anything with Rikku. :0 He's all "I'm not GAY!! DDDD:"

Rikku says to tell him that he can tell that to the jury. She's not believing a word.

Gippal says to tell Rikku that he really isn't gay. And nor is Baralai. They're just extremely good friends.

Although I think Rikku should tell the horrible bastard to go back to bed with Baralai and forget about her, 'cause she can do better than my asshole of a Gippal.

I think I agree with you there, but Rikku stopped listening to me when I suggested we cut his balls off.

I think she has a soft spot for him.

It's lovely how you manage to paint a picture of such a complex whirl of emotions. Gippal is angry, guilty, happy, bitter, weary, lonely, regretful, wistful and so many other things, within the space of this short piece. I think that's wonderful because real people's emotions can be that complex and unpredicatable.

I love that poor Baralai can't resist Gippal even though he protests.

I adore the final part and Gippal's fear that he will break their relationship by tinkering with it just like he breaks machina.
