It takes him a moment to collect himself, while he still waits for an answer that Gippal doesn't have, and then he shrugs and won't look at Gippal, and bites his lip like always. "I have... things to do. I'll see you later."
And he turns and walks away, because that's easier than facing the idea that maybe Gippal doesn't answer because he doesn't love him. Maybe the whole stupid vow of chastity thing made Gippal not want him anymore, though he knows that's a silly thought because Gippal came to Bevelle, didn't he? And he's been... doing things in his room at night and calling Baralai's name.
Baralai wonders for a moment what Gippal was up to when he wasn't answering the commsphere calls, but then he feels sick because he's probably just being stupid and everything is just fine. Maybe Gippal's just too shy to say it, though shy and Gippal don't fit in the same sentence.
He doesn't really have things to do, so he sits at his desk and flicks through finished paperwork and hides.
