It's not that he doesn't want to see Gippal. He does. A lot. He wants to at least talk to him, if not see him. But, well, you know, things to do, people to impress, and time just runs away without...

Gippal is there, leaning against a statue of Lord Ohalland. He'd look perfect if not for the small smudge of machina grease on his cheek. Baralai bites his lip and smiles and goes to him, reaching to clean the grease off his cheek with his sleeve.

"What are you doing here? Not that I am not pleased to see you, but..."

He's never been as casual as Gippal with words and he winces a little at how formal he's gotten after all these vows and ceremony and Praetor things that he wouldn't do, except people need tradition, and he'll give them whatever they need to cling to because wow, the world has changed, and some people just can't keep up.

Gippal, now, he's ahead of the world, and sometimes Baralai bites his lip and tries not to get drawn in, because there's Gippal with machina and there's Gippal kissing him in front of a templeful of ex-Yevonites and there's Gippal swearing in Al Bhed right in the middle of Bevelle temple...

But he is glad to see Gippal today.

I like the way that Gippal is a bit of an embarrassment to the soft-spoken Baralai, but I also like that Baralai doesn't seem to resent him for it, he's just resigned to it.

I like the way you've made Baralai's speech a little too formal and the way in which he criticizes himself for speaking that way. He does seem like the sort of person to be quite self-conscious and a little shy.
