FFX/X-2: [community profile] 1character

Fandom: Final Fantasy X/X-2
Pairing: Gippal/Rikku, Tidus/Rikku, Paine/Rikku
Warnings: Angst
Rating: PG13
Summary: A collection of sentences based around the character of Rikku as I see it. For [livejournal.com profile] 1character.

#01 - Speak

They all stare at her, when she gets up and puts her hands on her skinny little-girl hips, but Rikku is Cid's kid and she has his mouth and she won't be a good little girl sitting quiet in the corner for anyone.

#02 - Touch

Rikku likes to touch, to hug, to be close, and as Yuna gets closer to the end of the pilgrimage she does it more, catching every moment of Yuna and holding it close, cradling it, cherishing it, keeping it to remember when Yunie is, you know, gone.

#03 - Memory

It still makes her cry now, telling him about the way they sat together, the thinking and the talking, the inevitability, and even though Yunie didn't die and the Final Aeon bit didn't happen, and he doesn't understand but he holds her close.

#04 - Vanilla

Vanilla icecream is, she decides, the best flavour of icecream because it goes with every flavour of sauce and sprinkles.

#05 - Chocolate

Chocolate wins the contest for best food ever, she thinks, because it's so versatile; it can be used as bribe or an effective counter to blackmail, payment for getting a certain big brother to help her out, brain food for Shinra, keep-your-chin-up-and-be-good-girlie food for Yunie, come-on-tell-us-we'll-give-you-chocolate food for Paine and keep-bouncing-it's-just-hormones food for herself.

#06 - Ways and Means

There's a way around everything, she tells her brother, pouting, when he's stolen her teddy in revenge for whatever and hidden it in his room, and while she flails and pouts and cries, she snatches the key out of his pocket without him noticing.

#07 - Belief

"I hate the way you believe and believe and believe, I don't understand it and," her breath catches in her throat and she pushes at Yuna's shoulders gently, "you're going to believe yourself to death and I..."

#08 - Linger

They all leave, but Rikku hangs on for a moment longer, looking at the spot where they killed Yunalesca, and she isn't sure if they've done right or wrong, because maybe Spira needed that lie because Sin can't... but Yuna will get Sin, Tidus and Auron and Wakka could all kick it's ass single handed, right, so she goes.

#09 - Illuminance

She feels it, like a spotlight on them all the time, her and Yunie and by extension Paine, and she's not sure if she likes it but she covers the nervousness and lets people see her, laughing, smiling, real.

#10 - Ornament

When she was little, she had even more energy than she does now, and adults very sensibly moved anything particularly fragile out of the flight path.

#11 - Coup de foudre

Rikku cowered, admittedly: she was trying to get over her fear of thunder, taunted by the memory of Lulu's slight scorn, but she wasn't doing too well; every time the thunder sounded near her she yelped, covered her head and screamed for as long as it took to drown out the sound.

#12 - Archway

"I'll meet you under that archway over there," he promised, and he ran off into Luca to see the people and do stuff and she sat and sulked and waited, but Gippal never kept promises like that, never remembered to, always caught up by something else.

#13 - Fate

Sometimes she believes she's fated to be with him, because every time she sees him her heart jumps, and whenever he's in trouble she knows by the sickening feeling at the pit of her stomach, but since Gippal shows absolutely no sign of the same in reverse...

#14 - Pulse

She can feel her pulse racing while Paine touches her like that, whimpering softly for more, standing up on her tippytoes, legs shaking, for Paine's kisses and touches.

#15 - Envelope

Rikku snatches up the envelope the minute it's dropped on her desk, hoping, scrabbling to get it open, expecting an apology or a lovenote or something from Gippal and then slumping in disappointment when all it said was 'get your fine ass out to the desert, Nhadala needs some more diggers'.

#16 - Cold

Rikku shivered violently as she trailed after Yuna, and though she had no intention of missing out on the fun, she grumbled anyway; "I hate Gagazet, I hate you, Yunie, and you, Paine, and I hate Kimahri, and why the hell are we doing this?"

#17 - Need

She's been called an attention seeker and a spunky little girl and an Al Bhed and a guardian for insults, but all the labels on her don't take away the fact that the attention seeking is because she wants to be loved and the bravery is to look good for people who do love her, and she can't help being an Al Bhed and being Yunie's guardian is just the right thing to do.

#18 - Drunk

Rikku's a cheerful drunk, laughing and clinging, and she goes well with Gippal who talks and laughs and when they fall into bed together, neither of them mind a bit that they're both alcohol-clumsy and just a little giggly.

#19 - Mask

It's not a mask, the laughing happiness, it's the things she's learned from her best friend, from Gippal, to keep the evils of life away, like a shield, and it works better than any mask that just hides the hurt.

#20 - Rose

He thought Rikku was just a pretty girl with a smile and a bit of luck, a rose without any thorns, but when he tried to get what she didn't want to give he found that if he wasn't careful, he'd lose his fingers to her thorns.

#21 - Two

"Careful you don't get your ass kicked, Princess," Gippal teases when she says she can handle a fiend on her own, so Rikku grabs her weapons and proceeds to kick two fiends asses at once, all on her own, just to show him.

#22 - Fresh

Her feet clatter along the deck and she runs right to the end, feeling the fresher-than-fresh air blow into her face, flopping down where Yuna sat just days ago, wondering how everything felt so perfect-perfect then and why she feels like it was an anti-climax, like she was the only one who didn't get what she wanted.

#23 - Bribe

Rikku could easily be bribed with her favourite candy, which was good; unfortunately for her big brother, her favourite candy was not easy to obtain.

#24 - Error

It bugged Rikku that Shinra was better than her at everything, well, everything involving thinking, and she hated it when he informed her in his best slightly-smug-but-trying-to-hide-it-really tone that she had made an 'error'.

#25 - Appetite

"If you were anyone else, you'd get fat like this," Paine tells her, watching her (with just a little envy) stuff her face, and she just grins and laughs and reminds Paine that she burns food for energy fast.

#26 - Refrain

She gets sick of the little refrain, the Hymn of the Fayth, but it gets into her skull until she wants to scream with it whenever she hears it.

#27 - Family

They drive her mad sometimes, her dad especially, but she knows that she's glad to have them, that she would cry if they died, and sometimes she clings for a minute, though she never gives voice to it.

#28 - Grieve

Rikku's not sure what she'll do when Yunie is gone, she's not sure how she'll grieve, because she realises now how sheltered she's been, all things considered.

#29 - Vapor

All the time, Tidus was just a dream, nothing more or maybe less than the things pyreflies give on the Farplane, and yet he never seemed like a dream, he was so real, and it breaks Rikku's heart to think of the way Yuna passed through him...

#30 - Tea

Lulu sits there, all prim and proper, by the campfire, just as if she was sat back at home with a cup of tea talking to company, but Rikku shifts around, leaning against Wakka first and then Auron, wondering where Tidus and Yuna are, like a fretful child forced to sit with the adults for a while.

#31 - Medicine

"Here, have this," Gippal says and she glares at him for making her take medicine, even if he laughs at her for being childish, because she hates the taste and that should be enough.

#32 - Moth

When it comes to Yuna, Rikku's like a moth drawn to the light; wanting to be close to her, wanting her friendship, her light, and that's why she joins the pilgrimage, even if Yuna's light is all about sacrifice and that burns like fire when she goes too close to the knowledge.

#33 - Perfect

Paine looks just about perfect when she's asleep, Rikku decides, relaxed and not too grumpy and so, being Rikku and all, she finds a marker and she doesn't care about respect points, Rikku because Paine will look so funny when she wakes up with her face all covered in funny squiggly marks.

#34 - Rope

There's a little playground for all the kids in Home, and once, before that salvage trip with her brother, before Tidus and pilgrimage and Yunie, Rikku goes down to see the kids playing and finds only a little kid, so she plays a little too and helps the kid climb the rope, hoisting him to the top just to let him go there for once.

#35 - Wind

The highest possible part of the Celsius is the most dangerous, with the wind chilled and ripping into her, and she shouts into the wind all her angry-hurt and climbs back down to smile again and act like nothing is ever wrong.

#36 - Crossroads

She could go to the Moonflow to see Tobli, and maybe get dragged into something fun involving people watching her, or maybe she could go down to Djose temple and see Gippal and snap the strap of his eyepatch against his skin so he'd yelp and maybe kiss him stupid, but she hovers at the crossroads, sure which one she wants to do more but not sure if she'd be as welcomed in Djose.

#37 - Summer

The Calm Lands in summer are the best place to sunbathe, and the best place for fun, which is most important, so that's where Rikku drags Yuna and Paine when it's time to relax.

#38 - Candy

Really, everyone thinks she's the type to like candy all the time, and she does eat it, but her really guilty pleasure is dark chocolate, which nobody expects from a girl like her.

#39 - Photograph

"Who's that?" she asks, when she sees the picture, and she watches her father's expression flip from fine to sad, and her heart squeezes for him and she suddenly hates whoever the picture is of.

#40 - Spoon

There's a photo of Rikku somewhere, with a spoon hung neatly on her nose and a grin on her face, and that sums up her childhood; carefree, full of mischief and laughter.

#41 - Forest

"I'm pretty sure we've come this way before," she says, hands on her hips, and Yuna groans and Paine sighs, because this is a song and dance they know very, very well.

#42 - Mirror

Rikku doesn't like looking in mirrors, because she sees a pretty young girl and she feels guilty for looking, for primping and preening when so many pretty young girls think they're ugly, when so many pretty girls have gone to the Farplane without ever knowing how pretty they are, because she's so lucky in every way compared to so many others.

#43 - Smoke

The smoke and dust cloud that is Home makes her heart squeeze as they fly away from it, and she hopes they all escaped -- all her friends; Gippal and Nhadala and Rin, and so she runs around the airship finding everyone, and every time she finds that someone died, she wants to scream at her father to turn back, even though there's nothing that can be done.

#44 - Shine

Rikku imagines Zanarkand, like Tidus described, all bright and shining, and she wonders if she would like it there, wonders if she doesn't prefer the littler towns and the small comfortable places.

#45 - Balloon

Sometimes Rikku feels like a balloon, filled with lightness and rising, rising, rising all the way up into the sky.

#46 - Vine

"Hey, I bet I could climb this!" she says, testing a vine, and before Gippal can say a thing she starts to climb it, and when it snaps and she falls, he catches her in his arms with a look on his face something like terror that makes a place in her feel warm and fuzzy.

#47 - Butterfly

The first time she saw a butterfly was on Yunie's pilgrimage, in the Calm Lands, a little thing with white wings, and Tidus said that in Zanarkand the first butterfly you see in a year foretells your summer; white for calm, and Rikku remembers the way he said it, light, happy, not knowing what they were going to do.

#48 - Gloves

His gloves were leather, smooth and cool against her cheek, like water, and when she swims with the cool water against her face, flowing around her, she remembers his touch; all Yunie's now, but there once for her.

#49 - Venom

"I hate you for leaving," she tells him, her words harsh and full of venom, and then she clings closer, wrapping her arms around him, "you hurt Yunie so much, and all your friends, too," and he hugs her back, tight and friendly and she sighs, "and that wasn't fair, y'hear?!"

#50 - Remain

She sees Yuna jump off and run to him, him, the one they've been searching for, and it hurts a little to see Yunie go while she stays, because they'll stay in Besaid and be a happyhappy couple, and it's not the Gullwings without Yunie.

:) Awwww.

I really should go back and get the perfect ending for FFX-2. Or find a video rip somewhere as I'm not sure I have the patience.

I got the game to 100% just a while ago. On my... fifth playthrough, I think. Dx It's possible to play through once in one day, though, as I proved. xD What was annoying, though, was for some weird reason I didn't get the ending with Tidus. o_O;

There's probably one on www.youtube.com. xD
