It was a little like meeting your partners parents, Squall mused. Or it might've been, if they hadn't happened to have the same closest-thing-to-a-parent. And to be perfectly truthful Squall had never met anyone's parents in the capacity of 'boyfriend'. In the capacity of 'hi, I'm that SeeD you hired?', yes. As the girl's boyfriend? No.
And it wasn't really like that at all, because Edea had raised them both. And then Squall had proceeded to forget her and then try to kill her, but that wasn't his fault. That was the guardian forces fucking with his memory and then the fact that Edea had gone all super evil sorceress on them.
Anyway, Irvine wanted to tell Edea that he and Squall were fucking. Which Squall had no problem with. The fucking and the telling were both just fine with him. He was just a little jumpy because, well, however he tried to hide his feelings, Edea was the closest thing to a mother he'd ever had and ever would have.
"Hello? Babe?"
Squall blinked as Irvine waved a hand in front of his face and then nodded. "I'm ready."
"You look as if you're going into battle, all tensed up like that. Here, let me..."
Squall leaned into the hands on his shoulders for a moment and then huffed softly, shaking his head, "Irvine, let's just get on with this. If you start massaging me we'll never end up seeing Matron."
"It's hardly this much of a big deal, sweetcheeks."
"Call me that again and lose your ponytail."
