He's quiet. It's partly by plan, partly because that's the way he feels. Quiet, inside and out, like everything's still. He's bored of machina and he's bored of Djose and he's bored of them all hanging on to his every word.
Fuck. It's not like he's a hero. Not really.
And even if he was a hero, he wouldn't want to be admired like this. He wants to be friends. He wants to laugh with them all, smile, make jokes. He doesn't want them to laugh because he's their leader, he wants them to laugh because he's funny. Because he's Gippal.
People used to think he was a clown. That was better than being worshipped.
He knows Rikku won't worship him. She just won't. She's been there, done that, done more and she could kick his ass to Besaid and back if she wanted to. He wants her to shake him up. Make things better. Maybe make people look at her and think that, well, Gippal isn't much in comparison, you know?
He thinks that Lady Yuna would definitely do that, but it's Rikku he's friends with.
And besides all the selfish reasons, he just wanted to see her.
