It wasn't fair. It really wasn't.

See, it might not have struck Rikku as embarrassing, but for Gippal it was the end of the world. Sort of. Maybe. People had been maybe a little in awe of him before, because of the patch, because it was a little bit mysterious, and that made him worthy of note.

And now they all knew that it was just because he was clumsy. Just a stupid cactus.

He could hear the "cact-eye" jokes already.

Boom! There went people's respect for him.

And there was Rikku, not at all apologetic, not even sympathetic, telling him not to be grumpy. If he wasn't such an easy going type, he'd've shouted at her. And if he hadn't been so innately smiley, he'd've frowned and grumped some more.

Instead, he found himself grinning at her and consoling himself with the fact that, hey, at least people laughed!

I love that Gippal can console himself with the fact that he was at least the cause of people's amusement and his thought that people knowing the truth is maybe sort of the end of the world.
