cupcakemonster's Opening Up, Shutting Down.
Cid comes and glares a little and Baralai is still a little stunned at how many Al Bhed are suddenly taking over in Bevelle. Not that he minds, it's just a little surprising. For a few nights, Baralai and Gippal have their bed to themselves, because Cid is looking after Rikku. They take advantage of the alone time, of course.
Cid goes, though, with gruff promises to be back soon and to look in on the Faction for Gippal. And Rikku is all cling again and Gippal hugs her tight and sighs some more because she wouldn't even tell Cid who it was.
He thinks he has an idea, but it's a nasty one, a hurtful one, hurting his image of Rikku and to hurt others, so he keeps it in and tries to forget it.
He couldn't be right, anyway. Right?
Anyway, the bump grows and he thinks Rikku is beautiful like this and he tells her so, and he's never felt prouder somehow. Rikku's sadness doesn't go away, but she does the whole glow thing too and Baralai and Gippal are quite fascinated.
(They'd shudder to think of having a kid of their own, but show two men a kid growing inside a woman and they'll be amazed, even if they're even less straight than a pair of intertwined circles.)
