So things didn't work out so well for Rikku, but he promised to go see Baralai sometime soon and Baralai smiled (oh, smiled) right at him. And back he went to Bevelle, taking Gippal's heart with him all over again, except this time Gippal wasn't so sure that Baralai wouldn't love him back.
Rikku was in big trouble though, so he helped her out first and laughed with her about it. When he had to tell her he still hadn't kissed Baralai, she was not pleased.
So not pleased that she hit him round the head. "You're an idiot, Gippal!"
But they were both laughing and he told her that he'd promised to go to Bevelle soon to see Baralai. And even just thinking of Baralai's smile, he smiles his own smile (squishy smile! Rikku calls it, and laughs at him more than ever) and Rikku makes him promise to go to Bevelle soon, as in next week or tomorrow or right now.
When he gets to Bevelle, it's weird, because everybody here respects him because hey, he's that Al Bhed who laughed and cajoled all of Spira, told them to stick together, he's friends with the Praetor. And more than friends, he hopes, soon, soon.
He wonders when he'll kiss Baralai. He plans out how to do it, how and when and how gentle he'll be, how he'll touch Baralai's cheek and move closer to him.
Except when he sees Baralai again, plans go to nothing and he just flings.
When Rikku asks him how it went, he doesn't really have words. She pesters and pesters, but he can't say, because it was so perfect and precious and fragile, and so very very private.
"Did you even kiss him?" she asks, all suspicious.
His grin is lopsided and silly and happy. "Yes."
