He's nothing like Merlin's imagined Arthur would be -- all take take take, and no give -- and when he pulls back, his dark eyes are tender and full of promises, and Merlin does not know how to handle it, someone looking at him like that. Someone who just sees him, all of him, whole, no need to divide and hide himself.
When Lancelot opens his mouth, Merlin just swoops in and forestalls words with his mouth. There's nothing that needs saying, not with him.
