FFX: Forbidden
Fandom: Final Fantasy X
Pairing: Wakka/Rikku
Warnings: None
Rating: PG
Summary: Thinking about the right thing. Timeline here.
Rikku is all curled up in a little ball, and Wakka watches her, because he's not quite sure why she makes his stomach twist like that or why he's so drawn to her when he should hate her because she's an Al Bhed and he's Yevonite. He looks at her as if he'll find the answer there, and maybe he will if he thinks hard enough and about the right thing.
But he's not thinking about the right thing yet, he's just thinking that she's young (too young) and pretty and that she has a lot of energy and that she's so different to the girls he knows -- the quiet retiring girls of Besaid, the properness of Lulu, the calm quiet self-posession of Yuna. Rikku's all flail and smile and live.
But none of that should make him so pitying of her because of her Home, because she's Al Bhed and it was the will of a Maester of Yevon who destroyed it, not Sin, and that makes it different and it must make the Al Bhed Home wrong. Do they have a right to a home?
He looks at her all curled up and he thinks that he can't blame her because she's been raised a heathen, anyway. He thinks about teaching her about Yevon and realises that it just wouldn't take, that she's old enough now to have questioned and confirmed her beliefs all on her own.
And yet she's a guardian and does that make her a little above the average heathen or what?
He's no good at thinking these things through, and watching her doesn't bring any answers, except the stirring of want and the dash of forbidden pleasure and the idea that he's a Yevonite, perfect and uncorruptable, but maybe he could corrupt her with himself.
And then he reminds himself that he really sucks at this, and he turns to put his back to her and tries to sleep.

I've had way too much sugar! Ho!
I'm glad that you are writing Wakka x Rikku now, because this makes me freaking squeal with glee and I'm just much too happy. Although, once you're done your challenge, I'm going to have to do it too and won't that just be INTERESTING. (I'm so envious, you lucky lucky demon you)
Also, I agree, this style of writing is candy-yum-like-sugared-almonds. It's also dizzying a little. Or that may be just because I'm getting a bit of a cold? Who knows. Anyway! Yes!
I love this. I love how he's all like "I shall convert her!" and then he's like "fuck she has a mind of her own, dammit!" and his little thing about her being a not so bad heathen because she's a guardian and that's just wonderful.
Meep.
The best part? Him being like "I will corrupt her with me"
DELICIOUS. I want to see that corrupting, thankyouverymuch.
