"Sam?"
"Yes?"
Dean cleared his throat, delicately. "That's, uh. A hellhound."
"I know," Sam said. The hellhound was making noises and Dean thought it might be slobbering. Dean kept his distance, actually, quite a bit of distance, so he wasn't exactly sure. But he thought it was, and he thought it might be wagging its tail, and possibly panting and looking up at Sam with obvious adoration.
"So, uh. What kind of deal...?"
"I've never made a deal with a demon," Sam said, with some heat. "Or I'd have got you out of hell without having to wait for Castiel."
"It, um." Dean realised that there was no delicate way to point out that the hellhound seemed to actually like Sam. "It likes you."
"I know."
"I guess it's, you know. The demon blood."
"Yes," Sam said, bleakly.
"At least they're not attacking anyone?" Dean offered, hopefully. The hellhound wagged its tail. "It's probably a pretty loyal pet. It'll probably follow you everywhere."
"Do you think I want it following me everywhere?" Sam snapped.
"I'll phone Bobby," Dean said, with resignation.
