"You're slipping, angel."
Aziraphale nearly jumped out of skin, and promptly pretended he hadn't. It wasn't often either of them got one up on each other, and Crowley was pleased at the slight advantage, even despite the Agreement. "You like doing that, don't you?"
"Yes," Crowley said, honest, shrugging. Then he considered that it might be more demonlike to lie. Then he decided that the most demonlike thing would be to do whatever the hell he wanted. "It's fun to see you leap out of your skin."
Aziraphale dragged the bread out of his pocket, breaking it up for the ducks to gulp down more easily. Crowley clicked his fingers as if only just remembering, and miracled some bread into his hands.
"That's not healthy for them you know, my dear."
"It's normal bread," he protested.
"I'll believe that when I see it."
"Well, you're seeing it," Crowley said. He was almost sighing and he looked sulky.
Aziraphale took a closer look. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Something is, my dear, you can't hide it from me," Aziraphale dropped a big chunk of bread and barely noticed, turning to look Crowley in the eyes.
"I think you're rubbing off on me," he grumbled, hiding his eyes and concentrating hard on shredding the bread into little little bits. Aziraphale smiled, turned back to the ducks, and followed Crowley's example in silence.
