"What happens when I'm gone?"
Will says nothing. Bran shifts slightly, so that he can rest his head on Will's shoulder, his too-long hair spilling over Will's tanned skin like moonlight, and Will automatically moves to accomodate him, arm curling around him.
"I will be, one day," Bran says, relentless. His eyes are open, fathomless. Will can't look. "I'm only an ordinary mortal."
"One day, I'll be alone."
Bran nuzzles against Will's shoulder, just a little. "And at the end of things?"
"Still alone," Will says, barely more than a whisper. "You won't be taken into the Light. Bran -- "
"You'll have the other Old Ones."
"I won't have you."
Bran closes his eyes, and Will feels like he can breathe again. "Somehow, I'll meet you there."
"Bran -- "
"I mean it," Bran says, and oh, he's powerless now, the world won't move at his command, but he still has it, the effortless edge that makes Will nod.
"I'll meet you there," he says, through his tight throat. "I won't be alone."
"Good," Bran says, turning again, twisting; he gets comfortable against Will as if they're meant to fit together like that, like they're tailor-made. "I know what being alone is like."
