"What do you miss most about Narnia?"
Lucy was quiet for a long, long moment. She was sat by the window, and the bright sun lit up her face, brightened her hair, crowned her. Eustace felt uncomfortable, looking at her, because she looked very much as she had in Narnia -- even though he couldn't remember ever seeing a crown on her head when they were there -- and that didn't quite seem to fit now, in that very ordinary English room. She seemed older, somehow, than she should be. The bright crown of light was easily explained by the sun hitting the window at a funny angle. And yet.
Edmund answered, when Lucy didn't. "Aslan," he said, simply. "Being so close to Aslan, I mean. He's here, too. I suppose. But..."
Looking at him was alright, Eustace found. He was sat back in the shade, and he looked just like he usually did.
"I miss Reepicheep," Eustace said, and smiled to think of that incorrigible mouse. "Being around him made a chap want to be... well, better."
"I miss Caspian," Lucy said, softly, into the silence that followed that. There was a dreamy look on her face. Eustace bit back the tease that came sharp into his mouth.
"So do I."
