Cloud is asleep. Tifa hesitates at the door when she sees that: she doesn't want to disturb him, and she has a feeling he'll wake as soon as she gets close to him. He looks younger in his sleep, his face relaxed, his hair a mess. She takes a step closer, almost involuntarily, smiling.
He doesn't even open an eye. "Tifa."
"Yes?"
He doesn't answer in words, but makes space for her in the bed. She hesitates a moment, and then quickly undresses, leaving her clothes a heap and slipping into bed beside him. His feet are cold. "I thought you'd be up and reaching for a weapon as soon as I opened the door," she says, lightly, curling her body to fit his. He shakes his head, reaching almost tentatively to touch her hair, to tangle his fingers in it.
"I knew it was you."
"You did?"
His eyes are still closed. He shifts just a bit, kisses her so lightly. "I'd know you anywhere."
