FFX: Oil and Water

Fandom: Final Fantasy X
Pairing: Wakka/Rikku
Warnings: None
Rating: PG
Summary: Love and hate that won't mingle.

They don't go together at all. They're all hot anger and playful fire, and Wakka's not sure if sex is a game or a battle, and Rikku's not sure whether the hot feeling in her chest is love or hate. They fall down together, on the cool grass of the Calm Lands, both laughing, but there's hate lurking. Wakka's not sure whether he hates Yevon for hating her, or her for hating Yevon and, oh, it doesn't matter when she pushes him down and kisses him. She's fire to his water, they're chalk and cheese, and that makes it good.

I love the way you use so many different groups of opposites and I love Wakka's confusing tangle of hatred. The whole thing, oddly enough, almost reminds me of a child's skipping ryhme or something, with them falling down onto the grass and laughing and the rather incantatory effect of the opposites you present.
