He hadn't meant to kiss Aziraphale. He could've come up with all excuses for the stupid kiss: tempting him, giving the old lady staring at them a heart attack, indulging his impulses (which, while not a great sin, is nonetheless a sin, at least by some people's lights, which was good enough for Those Down There). Anything. But something about that stupid angel made him inclined to tell the truth, even when it was embarrassing and stupid and run all into one word: Iloveyou.
Love. Of all the stupid, stupid, stupid things for a demon to indulge in. He supposed he'd be forgiven if he made Aziraphale fall, but despite the things that followed the first kiss, Aziraphale seemed to be showing no signs of doing any such thing. He mostly seemed to be staying right where he was -- somewhere in the middle.
Crowley cursed it and blessed it alternately -- the latter without even stuttering.
Damned angels.
