FFTSW: The Killing Urge

Fandom: Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Pairing: Neil/Jane
Warnings: None
Rating: PG
Summary: Team talk over weapon check. For [livejournal.com profile] _overthefantasy.

"You ever just want to shoot someone, so you can see real blood for a change?"

Neil was bent over his gun, fixing some malfunction that'd caused trouble on their latest mission. Jane looked up to watch him, pausing her own weapon check. His hands were quick and sure on his weapon and she approved of that. "Not really."

Neil was the last person she'd've expected to get a lust for blood. She'd heard of it happened amoung people who fought the invasion often -- people who just went nuts in their longing for things to be simple, real, instead of this phantom fighting. She'd heard of people blowing their own brains out or killing their own kids just to see some blood, just to know that people were still alive.

She understood, but she'd never thought it, never thought she'd see the same urge in one of the other Deepeyes.

"You're cracking up," she told him, and he looked up with his easy grin.

"Naah, I won't shoot anyone. I just... don't you find it hard?"

She shrugged, going back to her weapon and staring at it as if that held all the answers. She didn't meet his eyes. "Of course. I do have feelings, you know."

"Right, yeah, sorry," he said, and went back to his weapon, but not without the feeling that this time, he'd gotten somewhere with her. Something had been shared, knowledge had been gained, and the war went on.

*Jaw drops*

Didn't... with the... and the... the thing with the.... Mewe?

*Collects jaw* Sorry, I'll come in again.

Ahem. I didn't know anyone around here wrote TSW-fic. And I am pleasantly surprised. :D

'Tis a well done exchange. I always figured they might've developed a worse stigma against harming other people, but I'd never thought of potential psychoses from being at war with the a non-corporeal enemy.

(Between this and the FFI stuff, consider yourself stalked.)

Oh yes, I love The Spirits Within, and have a Neil/Jane claim over on [livejournal.com profile] _overthefantasy, so there's lots more to come. :D I'd heard that The Spirits Within was rubbish, but I got the DVD cheap and loved it. ♥ AndIcriedwhentheDeepeyesdied.

Also, I have this thing where, if I can, if it's Final Fantasy, I will, eventually, somehow, obtain it, play it/watch it, and write for it. I have FFIV, FFV and FFVI all waiting to be played. :D

And thank you. I think there's a potential for both sides of the coin, in that society, especially where even children (the Fifth Spirit, for example) are jaded and ready to die. Seems like an environment that would breed psychoses to me.

(Stalked? Oh my! ♥)

A claim? Really? *Glee!* I will so be reading that. The Deep Eyes are much love. :D

*Nods* I understand your Final Fantasy thing. And there's a lot of it around, but it's always worthwhile. Not addicted; nope, nohow.

...As an afterthought: If you read epics, and haven't seen it yet, I'd recommend Out of the Ashes by LadyKayoss. It's generally regarded as a fantastic continuation of TSW.

(Stalked. ♥)

Yep, a claim. :D

I'm not addicted either. Totally not.

Thanks for the link!
