lemon_advent.
Dee had an annoying habit of being nosy about his finances. Ryo supposed that, to some extent, that was to be expected, but it was around Christmas time it got most annoying. He couldn't sit down to work things out without Dee suddenly appearing, arms wrapping around him, and a pair of curious eyes leaning oddly close to the lists and numbers.
This time: "There's nothing for you on that list."
"Of course not. It's the list of things I'm buying people for Christmas."
Dee rolled his eyes, tightening his hold on Ryo a little. His chin rested on the top of Ryo's head: uncomfortable, but not unbearable -- and Ryo wanted him there, even if it was uncomfortable. Like he always had, even if it was uncomfortable. "There's never anything for you on that list. Bikky, Carol, me, the guys at the precinct -- so where do you come in?"
A tiny shrug. "I get what I need."
"But what about what you want, huh? Do you ever get that? At Christmas? Any other time?" Dee huffed softly, his breath ruffling Ryo's hair. For a moment, Ryo sat still, considering: he could think of a dozen answers, from sharp (right now, I'd like to be alone) to saccharine-sweet. So many answers that at first he couldn't say anything at all. But then he leaned back, closing his eyes, leaned into Dee's warmth.
"All the time," he said, quietly. "When I'm with you."
Dee grinned, arms tightening. He opened his mouth, about to say something -- something snide, maybe, something teasing. But then he, too, caught hold of the moment, embraced the moment, and said nothing at all.
