Summary: Sora was keeping a close eye on Riku.
"Would you quit staring at me, Sora?"
Sora made some sort of noise that might've been agreement, and didn't for a second consider looking away. Riku wriggled, annoyed. He'd been lying on his back in the shade, relaxing and drying off after a swim, but now he sat up, digging his toes into the sand.
"What is it?" he asked, impatiently. "Have I got something on my face?"
"I'm just making sure you don't go away again."
Riku rolled his eyes. "I already promised you, what more do you want?"
Sora shrugged, and though he looked as if he'd like nothing better than to study the sand under his feet as if it were the most interesting thing in the world, he kept his eyes on Riku. His tone was entirely serious -- and thoughtful. "I just feel like it's not all over yet. Like something more is going to happen. And it always starts with friends going away. So I'm keeping an eye on you. Two eyes, really."
"Sora..."
"Roxas feels the same way, you know." Sora shifted awkwardly, hugging his knees. "He misses Axel."
"He's a part of you again now," Riku reminded him.
"I know, but... he wasn't me, for a while. He's got his own memories. His own feelings. I can hardly deny him that, right?" Sora grinned a little. "Besides, it's not his fault he was only a part of me. He deserves to live a bit."
"Don't tell me you let him go out on excursions."
Sora looked a little shifty. "Not exactly. Anyway! The point is... Roxas was always afraid of people going away -- the other Organisation members, you know? He knew they could be erased so easily because they didn't have hearts... And then there was Olette. And Pence and Hayner. People always went away."
"You know me and Kairi will always come back, even if we do have to go away," Riku said, quietly. Sora grinned at him.
"I know. But I want to see where you go so I can just follow you. You're not having adventures without me again, you know."
"I could say the same to you," he said, rolling his eyes, and then reaching over to poke Sora in the chest. "Don't you go off without me, either."
"Ow! I should if you're going to treat me like that!"
