Summary: Maya takes someone to visit Mr. Armando.

"I didn't know if you would want to see me."

"Mr. Armando!" Maya clapped her hands together. "I wasn't sure if they would let me see you, but apparently they saw reason at last. How is it? I mean, I've been in the detention center before, but I didn't stay long thanks to Nick. How are they treating you?"

His smile was somewhat bemused. "Not so badly."

"How's the coffee?"

"I've tasted worse."

"I thought you might want to see someone," Maya said, slyly. "I thought you might like it if I channelled Mia for you. She is the one you'd most like to visit you, right?"

"I don't know about that," Diego said, looking away. "I did fail her, after all."

"Piffle!" Maya said, enthusiastically. "I'm sure she wants to see you. I bet she doesn't think you failed her!"

"Maya..."

"Let me channel her, please? I feel like it's the only thing I can do, to pay you back for what you... for protecting me. I feel like it's my fault you're in here..." She looked down, clasping her hands in front of her. "It's the only thing I can do, really, and I know she still loves you. She used to talk about you all the time, even after... She wanted to be around when you opened your eyes. I bet that's one of her big regrets."

Diego laughed, at that. "You are most persuasive, kitten."

Maya didn't look up to catch the surprise in his face at him calling her that. She bowed her head and closed her eyes and concentrated, and while Diego looked away, Mia's features overwrote hers as she grew to the right height, as her features changed. For a moment there was a long silence, and then Mia Fey spoke.

"Diego..."

"Mia," he said, and looked at her, and then couldn't seem to stop looking. After a moment, he placed his hand up against the glass, and Mia stepped forward and matched her hand to his, on the other side.

"There's nothing to forgive," she said, before he could speak. "Except... forgive me for not living to see your eyes open again."
