"It begins," Auron says, grimly. From the look on his face, the tone of his voice, you might guess he meant fiends -- something like that, anyway, something important. Something significant. Jecht makes a derisive sound.
"It's not so bad. Let them natter at him for a while and then we'll be on our way."
"How," Auron says, slowly, carefully, and Jecht knows a lecture is on its way, "are we supposed to guard him when people are surrounding him like this?"
"Well..." Jecht glances at the crowd, smiling a bit ruefully. "In my experience, this kind of crowd wouldn't let anything like that happen. They're fans, see? It's like blitzball, only... it's not a cup he's winning, it's some years of peace. Aren't you the one who keeps telling me how valuable all that is? We're not protecting him from these guys, are we? We're protecting him from fiends and whatever else might pose a danger."
"Maybe they'll trample him," Auron says, grumpily.
"I think you're jealous," Jecht says, after a minute, loudly enough for the group round Braska to hear. Humour lightens his gruff voice, even if he's not quite smiling. "All those girls, surrounding him -- "
"Really, Jecht," he says, impatiently, and turns away. He hears Braska and Jecht both laughing, and can't help a little smile of his own.
