The Drews visited, every summer. Will not so often, after a while -- but he'd been becoming distant for long enough that though Bran was sad, he wasn't surprised. After a few years Simon stopped coming; too busy with work, Barney said, frowning and apologetic. A summer after that, only Barney came. Bran was only disappointed for a while, because Barney was -- well, Barney was Barney, smiling and sunny, and even though he was younger he said such clever things, and Bran realised once he was gone -- he could kick himself for not realising before -- that he'd fallen in love.
