"I don't understand him, sometimes," Jane said quietly. She and Bran were sat on a rock together -- she had blushed when he'd taken her hand and he had grinned, suddenly happy, proud, somehow smug. They were still holding hands, but now Bran frowned.
"Who're you looking at?"
"Will."
Bran paused, looking down at Will, sat with Simon, playing some kind of game. Jane's expression was almost longing. Jealousy swelled hot into his mouth. "I'd rather you look at me."
She did, smiling -- just as he caught sight of Will looking up at them -- and so, entirely deliberately, he kissed her.
