When Barney first asked to paint him, Bran mocked him a little. "It'll certainly save on the coloured paints," he'd said, lightly, but with an edge to it too, "you only need white for me."
Barney had only smiled, and so Bran found himself sitting for Barney to sketch and then to paint. All the time Barney was smiling, laughing, talking. Bran found that he didn't mind it -- couldn't mind.
Somehow, Bran wasn't surprised when Barney's painting made him look beautiful -- pale, yes, but not corpse-like, and Bran realised then, looking at it, that Barney really believed he was beautiful.
