The boy squinted down the hillside at the small figure. Hs hand was on his dog's collar, his fingers curled around it, and so the dog obediently stayed still and silent. "What do you think, Cafall?"
The dog's nose lifted, as if to smell the wind. Then he tugged free of Bran's hold and set off, ambling down the hillside. Bran stood to watch, hesitating. Then he took a deep breath.
"On the day of the dead, when the year too dies," he said, quietly, reminding himself of the verse. And then he shook away hesitation, following the dog down.
