"I could jump," Seifer says, eyeing the ground, so far away beneath Garden as it turns, lifts and spins. Zell, at his side, wrinkles his nose.
"Why would you want to do a dumbass thing like that?"
He looks up at Zell and sees honest curiosity, as well as surprise, there. He almost tells Zell -- about the voices in his head, the ghosts in his bed, the whisper that will never leave him alone. "Don't you wish I would?"
"You're an idiot, Almasy," he says, and then, grinning, "and don't tease me by saying you'll jump if you won't."
