"The SeeDs come," Seifer says, his eyes half-glazed over, his voice as if it comes from a long way away. "Leonhart, Dincht and Trepe in the first party. Kinneas, Tilmitt and the girl behind."
"It is as I expected," she says, and her voice grates in his ears. "The lion, you may kill. The girl is mine. Your former instructor... do you wish to spare her?"
"No," he says.
"We will keep the martial artist. He can be our court jester," she says. There's a part of him that cringes away, but the most part of him laughs with her.
