Summary: She makes him blush but he likes it. Because
candywrapper almost dared me.
He had barely paid attention to her at first, but now he was more often able to see Gippal and Nooj and Paine, he ran into her more often. Some kind of relationship with Yuna might have been more to his advantage as Praetor, but with his position secure and Sin and Vegnagun behind them, he thought less of politics and clever manoeuvering, and more of his personal life.
It was Rikku he found himself drawn to, in the same way as he'd been drawn to make Gippal his friend. There was something about them both that he had never found in the temples or among people of Yevon. Something open and careless, the very antithesis of him. And of course, the sheer energy she had...
He watched her, and when Gippal finally made it clear to her that he wasn't interested, she finally noticed him, too. And when Rikku noticed someone she was never quiet about it.
"Baralai! You're so cute!" she cried, when she and Yuna and Paine visited him. He couldn't help but be embarrassed -- embarrassed but, perhaps, pleased, too.
She was always like that. Vaguely embarrassing, but flattering too, flirting lightly before drawing back as if serious things were far beneath her. Flirting and drawing back, leaving Baralai embarrassed and flustered, until one day when she didn't draw back.
She kissed him, a carelessly sweet kiss, before she left, leaving him blushing but, as always, pleased, more pleased than ever.

And also, on more serious literary notes... you capture her personality very well.
