Stanton's a bit different, and everyone knows that. The gossip spreads out from him like ripples in a pool, wherever he goes. Especially in the university, where he's simultaneously gay, straight, asexual, already happily married to that girl he writes to, and polyamorous. He finds it amusing, where most would find it hurtful, and is simply glad that not a single one of them comes close to the truth.
Sometimes, though, he'd like them to realise that he's different because he's not one of them. That he's different because he simply is. Because he saved them all (or, well, helped).
