Edge is dancing with some other girl, since Rydia left him on the dancefloor. Rosa watches them with some amusement, wondering if she and Cecil ever danced around each other in quite the same way. She doesn't think so. Now, though, Rydia is curled up in the chair at her side, watching Edge with a kind of glum expression. Rosa touches her arm gently. "Is anything wrong?"
Rydia looks up, and she sort of smiles, though Rosa is pretty sure she doesn't feel the smile she shows. "He asked me to go to Eblan with him."
"And you said...?"
"I said I would, but..." She sighs again, resting her chin on her knee with a thoughtful look. Rosa raises an eyebrow.
"What is it?"
Rydia doesn't say anything more, for now, and Rosa's content to wait. That's one thing she's learnt from Cecil: patience. Not that he shows it -- he does, mostly, but that's not the point -- but that it's needed. That silence draws people out, because people need to talk, to fill the spaces. Rydia huffs softly.
"Just that I'll miss you."
Rosa has to laugh at that. She reaches out and wraps her arm around Rydia's shoulders, draws her closer and kisses her temple, lightly, like she's her child or a sister. "I'll miss you too, but you should go."
"You think so?"
Edge looks up from dancing with some other girl, his eyes on Rosa and Rydia. Rosa smiles at him, reaching up to stroke Rydia's hair lightly. "I know so."
