"You stole my panties?"
Rikku's voice is so ridiculously loud that Gippal is pretty sure Cid's going to hear any minute and come and batter him for ever touching his precious daughter. Lucky he has an escape route planned. "Only once!"
"Once is enough, don't you think?!"
He grins at her. She's prettier when she's annoyed like this, somehow, her hair in her face and her fists tightly balled and resting on her hips. She glares at him, and somehow that's hotter than anything he's seen in a while, and it's nice to know a girl who can be fierce. Her glare only increases when she realises he doesn't give a damn that she's upset with him.
"Gippal!"
He smiles as innocently as he can. Given that he's not a person very prone to innocence, it doesn't work too well -- but he makes the intent, just to see her stamp her foot in fury. "Hmm?"
"Are you even listening to a word I'm saying?"
"Yep."
"What's the last thing I said, then?"
The next grin to be pulled out and paraded past his disapproving audience is his I'm too clever by half grin, practiced and perfected thanks to Nhadala. "'Then', I think, unless you're muttering things under your breath."
"You're annoying," she says, suddenly calmer. She shakes a fist at him. "I'll get my own back."
"Sure," Gippal says, with the easy confidence of one who knows he's always going to get the upper hand.
