Marian has been kissed before, but never quite like this. It means something, even if it doesn't, it changes something, even though it shouldn't. Djaq's mouth is soft but the press of her lips is eager, hard. Men always bend down to kiss, but Djaq is pushing up a little, her fingers tangled in Marian's hair gently. It's not all push and passion, there's something gentle about it that makes Marian's eyes flutter closed. She puts her arms around Djaq, finding her trembling, bow-string taut, and Marian thinks that she has never been kissed like this -- never will be again.
