over_look.
"Here," Will says, sliding his arms around Allan to correct his grip, nudging him with his foot to correct his stance. He feels Allan tense and then relax against him, knows the smirk that'll be spreading over his face. "You're a good shot, but you could be better. No, not... yes, that's right."
"I don't understand why this is important," Allan says, and Will can hear the smirk now, somehow, or maybe he just knows Allan too well. "At least, I think there're... better things we could be doing."
Will presses closer to him for a moment, just because he can't resist, smiling a little despite himself. And then he moves slightly, correcting Allan's grip a little. "Who taught you to use a bow?"
"Taught myself."
"Ah." Will nods slightly, realising that he could've guessed that already. He pulls away a little, looking around for a better target. "It's important because learning to shoot better could save your life, sometime."
Allan shifts slightly, sighting along the arrow. "Or yours."
"Or Djaq's, or Robin's, or Much's, or John's. I know." He puts his hand on Allan's shoulder and points up towards a clump of leaves that'll serve for a target. "Aim for that."
"That's impossible."
"I could hit it."
He huffs softly. "All I ever needed to do with my bow was shoot a few deer. They were hardly tiny targets. I'm not used to shooting like this. You... you probably practised, all the time, till you got perfect."
"I wanted to be able to protect my family," Will says, not denying it. He nudges Allan gently and then steps away. "You can do it. You'll thank me, if this saves your life sometime."
"Or especially if it saves yours. Got to make sure you're around to thank, after all."
