To put more trust in a mortal man than he has the strength to take -- that's the worst thing Will could've done, and that is exactly what he has always done with Bran. He doesn't need to give him some great task for that. Simply by living, by being loved by Will, Bran is in danger, is held in great trust, because the Dark rose and it fell but it lives still in every man's heart. And the Dark wants to get at Will, needs to get at Will, to end his vigil.

And a way could be found, through Bran.
