"Lady Aravis."
Aravis jumps a little -- both at the unfamiliar title and at the unexpected voice. She turns quickly from the battlement, a smile already in place, to find King Lune standing behind her. He gives her a kindly smile.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. How are you settling in?"
"It's a lovely castle," she says, without being able to keep a hint of wistfulness out of her voice. "But I miss..."
"You miss your home?"
"In a way," she says, awkwardly, and then because King Lune is so kind and so understanding, and because she doesn't want to hurt his feelings, she quickly adds, "but I really do like it here. It'd be hard not to. Everyone treats me so wonderfully, as well as I was treated back home, and Cor -- "
He smiles when she breaks off. "Yes, you and Cor are good friends. If you like, though, I can arrange for you to go home."
"Oh, no, sir." She shakes her head quickly. "I came here to escape from being forced into a marriage I did not want."
"I'd forgotten that," the King admits. Then he smiles again. "Perhaps we shall see if here, in Archenland, we cannot find you a marriage that you will want."
He tries not to laugh at the colour that rises quickly to her cheeks -- knowing quite well from the way they act now how she and Cor will be in just a few years time. He puts a hand on her shoulder for a moment and then, taking her leave courteously, moves on.
