"And do you know, darling, he actually kissed me?"
Aravis looked up -- for a moment almost interested in Lasaraleen's tale. She smiled a little, moving closer to her friend and arching an eyebrow. She was out of practice with coaxing Las for more information, but curiosity is a powerful thing. "What's it like?"
"Why, you haven't yet been kissed?" Lasaraleen mock gasped, putting a hand over her mouth. "Oh, my little Aravis."
Aravis rolled her eyes at the dramatics. "Come on, Las. I know you hadn't been kissed before last night either."
"Well... to tell you the truth, he said I should have to practise a little. Fancy, he said I was clumsy at it!" Lasaraleen's eyes twinkled and she smiled one of her prettiest smiles, taking Aravis' hand in hers. "Perhaps I should show you what it's like -- and practise at the same time."
Aravis pulled away a little. "Las, I don't think -- "
"Oh, Aravis, don't be a spoilsport. Or I shall think you're scared to do it."
She wavered for a moment, and then moved closer, lifting her chin proudly. "I'm not scared of anything. Kiss me, then, Las, if you insist."
Lasaraleen laughed, and proceeded to do so -- a little clumsily, indeed, but thoroughly, and, Aravis had to admit, sort of enjoyably.
