Aerith barely has time to open her mouth and call for help before Yuffie is there, throwing her shuriken to slice through the Heartless almost nonchalently. She smiles over her shoulder at Aerith, moving with a kind of quick grace that has to be admired and, perhaps, envied. Aerith watches her, silent as if spellbound, looking as demure and unmoved as ever.
"You should be more careful," Yuffie says as she returns to Aerith's side, her tight grip on her shuriken bleaching her knuckles white. Aerith smiles at her, watching the tension bleed gradually from her.
"Thank you for helping me."
"I was watching from a window, saw you in trouble and -- "
Aerith's eyes widen suddenly and she catches at Yuffie's arm, holding her still and giving her the sternest look she's actually capable of giving someone. "Yuffie! Don't tell me you jumped out!"
"I won't tell you, then," Yuffie says, grinning mischievously.
"I'm glad I didn't see it," Aerith murmurs, sure that one day -- one day soon -- Yuffie is going to give her a heart attack pulling stunts exactly like that. Still, she admits to herself, with a smile, she is glad for the help. Even if she can look after herself better than everyone seems to think.
