"I think they're going to be friends," Riku's mother said, watching the two babies carefully. They were about the same age -- Riku a little older, Sora just beginning to crawl and gurgle things that might, or might not, mean something. Sora's mother smiled fondly, reaching down to smooth the fuzz of Sora's hair.
"I think so. They can't really help it, with us as their parents, I suppose."
Riku crawled closer to Sora, staring at him with curious, wide-open eyes. After a minute, he reached and poked him -- batting at his arm to get his full attention. Their mothers watched with some amusement as the pair seemed to enter a staring match, neither blinking for a long moment. Finally, Sora's eyes widened a little and he blew a raspberry at Riku, who sat back looking rather startled.
They laughed about it, then.
"They like each other," Sora's mother said.
"They always will," Riku's mother replied, just a little doubtfully, as if she knew.
