Squall glances up at the the stars, leaning against Laguna a little. "Nobody ever romanticized it like that for me. I knew early on that they're just balls of gas burning millions of miles away."

Laguna reaches up to run his fingers through Squall's hair, not bothering to retread the tired ground between them that always causes arguments, but he knows: he should've been there.

"We wouldn't be here like this if you were," Squall mutters, in answer. He knows what he's thinking.

Laguna wonders if that's so bad.
