"Don't laugh at me," Squall says, warningly. Laguna looks up at him, noting the way he's biting his lip and the guarded expression on his face, and does his best to stop laughing.

"I'm sorry," he says, earnestly, but still laughing a little. "Just..."

"It's not funny."

"No, no, it's not," Laguna says, hastily, getting up and taking Squall's hand into his with his usual open warmth. "Just, I've been wondering lately why you've been so... down, and..."

"Well, now you know," Squall says, looking away. Laguna squeezes his hand firmly.

"Yes. And I love you too."

The look on Squall's face is something to treasure.
