It's not Zell's fault he has problems with intimacy.
He can't stay the night. He's tried, for Zell's sake. Sometime between the moments of breathlessness and satisfaction and the later moments when Zell is wrapped around him, clinging to him, he loses his resolve and gently extricates himself from the embrace and leaves, sometimes leaving a note, sometimes not. Zell never says a word, but Squall knows it hurts him.
He can't tell him that it's hard, because that's too intimate. Zell is too intimate with him, too easily hurt, so it's hard to tell him. Catch fucking twenty-two. The vicious circle.
