"This is crazy, Mal."
Zoe is good at telling him when he's going to do something crazy. He knows that, but at the same time, both of them know he'll probably do it anyway. Especially when it comes to the safety of Serenity -- or, even more important to Mal, Zoe's own safety. He, in himself, doesn't matter so much. He smiles at Zoe disarmingly, clapping his hand down on her shoulder. "Now then. You see any safe way for both of us to go?"
"I ain't goin' till I do, sir."
"Zo'..."
She shakes her head, giving him a fierce look. Her jaw is set, and he knows it'd be easier to move Serenity by pushing it with one arm than move her to say she'll go when he's left in danger. He sighs softly and she takes a step closer to him. "The plan was to -- "
"The plan?!"
"The plan," she continues, unperturbed by his reaction, "was to get out of here, both of us, alive. With what we came for. Now, if you ain't got a plan to be doing that right yet, shut your mouth and think on it 'til you do."
"Zoe -- "
"Better start thinking of that escape, sir," she says, with a quick smile, loading her gun and maneovering to a good vantage point. He stares helplessly after her.
A good woman, there.
