Locke is good at smiling and finding the okay in things. Or putting some okay into things when things aren't going too well. It's something Celes loves about him: always will. He made things okay for her in a dark hour, and he's been with her -- or near her -- pretty much ever since. Lately, he's become more of her confidante than anything else -- and he listens to her now, helping her sort out the tangle of her emotions. He listens to her talk about Terra, his arm around her for closeness.
"I miss her," she concludes, and leans against Locke a little. He reaches up and runs his fingers through her hair, looking thoughtful. Finally, he shrugs a little.
"It sounds like you love her, maybe."
Celes thinks about that. She's too inexperienced with love to know it when she feels it -- and doesn't know how anyone can ever learn to label and categorize anything that feels so complicated. There are few things that are uncomplicated when it comes to love, and this is certainly one of the most tangled webs she's found herself woven into.
"I love you," she says, softly, and before he can say anything; "but I miss her. I want to see her. I might love her too."
He nods. She's grown to know his moods, now, and knows this one: he's worried, but won't complain. He'll find his way through this -- and probably help her along the way. Celes smiles at him, and he smiles back. There's some okay in this to be found.
