There's something about autumn. Something nice, something warm, even though Blank supposes it could be the death of something, the beginning of the cold. He did think like that -- once. But Marcus, for all his grimness at times, saw the optimism in it. The remains of the warmth. The extra warmth in the way the leaves caught light in their own fire.
It makes him smile to think of that, to think of the hidden poet in his usually dour friend. To think of the things Marcus rarely says, the things that are saved for him.
