Kaylee hasn't ever made love in a room full of moonlight with pretty silky bedsheets and gauzy curtains: to be honest, she doesn't think she wants to. She thinks Inara has, though, and it's somehow easiest to imagine the Companion in a room like that. It's easiest to imagine herself walking into a room like that to be seduced, rather than Inara coming to find her in the engine room. Easiest to imagine herself on silk sheets with Inara -- easier than imagining herself on the floor by the engine with her.
That's why, she thinks, it wouldn't work between them.
