He felt nothing. No -- to be more accurate, he knew nothing. He didn't remember having felt, or hope for feeling again. He just was, he just became one with everything around him with no more life or individual feeling than that. It was difficult to remember who he'd been when Marcus came for him, when the supersoft peeled him away from the everything he'd been.
"Brother...?"
"It's okay now," Marcus soothed, surprisingly gentle as he helped Blank out of the forest and got him to sit down. "It should take some time for the medicine to work properly, but you're fine now. You're fine. I hope you knew I was coming."
"Not really," he muttered, but didn't explain further, thinking back to the nothingness, the oneness, the everythingness. The brief half experience of that was already fading and a moment later, when Marcus touched his shoulder, hesitantly asking what it'd been like, he couldn't answer, just shook his head and muttered, "I don't remember," and asked how Zidane was.
"Zidane's fine. Still with that princess, as far as I know. Getting all gushy over her, too, I expect. Can you stand, brother?"
"She was pretty," Blank says, somewhat distantly, letting Marcus help him stand. Then he grinned. "Of course Zidane is still with her. Have you ever known him to pass up an opportunity like that?"
Marcus grinned at well, pleased beyond saying to see Blank looking like his old self. "Nope. C'mon, we need to get out of here."
Blank glanced back at the forest, once. It made the back of his neck prickle a little and a shudder ran through him and then he looked at Marcus and then where he was going, narrowly avoiding having his face make friends with a tree, and he didn't look back again.
